Ep 62 When Is The Best Time To Use Your Intuition At Work
Hi, my name is Elise, I’m the Left Brain Intuitive, and today I want to give you a concrete example of when to use your intuition at work.
The logical mind and the intuitive mind are two complementary decision making systems. Some decisions are best made with your logical mind, and some decisions are best made with your intuition.
So, for example, when the light turns red, you stop the car. That’s a logical decision. However, what if the problem is that you’ve become bored at your job? You don’t feel inspired to go to work. It’s hard to get up in the morning.
And you’re stuck and your logical mind can’t help you here.
This is where intuition shines. Intuition is really good when you feel stuck and your logical mind can’t help you anymore.
Intuition is very much like a car.
In order to get this car to take you to a destination where want to go, So you want to drive from New York to LA.
You have to know how it works. Where’s the gas pedal? Where are the brakes? What does this big wheel do? once you know how the car works, then you can take it to your destination.
This is probably the trickiest part, intuition does not talk to you through language.
It has to use a different way of talking to you because it’s pulling from subconscious information, contrary to your logical mind, which is pulling from conscious information, which means that the information is not stored in language.
So let me give you an example. Do you remember maybe when you were little and something happened to you? Something that you still remember to this day. You fell off your bike, maybe. How is that stored in your memory?
Is it the dialogue that you remember? Most likely not. You probably remember the image. Oh, it was a sunny day. You remember the fear. Oh yeah, I felt it when I was about to fall. It was like lifting off the bike.
You remember the sensation. Oh, my knee, my knee hurt so bad and I was crying.
And maybe you remember a sound. Maybe you fell off the bike because a car was screeching, turning a corner, surprised you. And you remember that sound that the tires make. This is how intuition talks to you.
This information that comes to us in this particular format is not ready to be consumed yet. It has to be refined into words, which is the work that we do. As an intuitive, believe it or not, my job is very simple.
I take images, sensations, emotions, and sound, and I turn them into a paragraph, a sentence, words.
Now in intuition, I call that alignment. And a lot of times we leave the house and we don’t know where we’re going.
Let me give you an example. You have a meeting this afternoon at work and you’re super nervous about it. Something is just, ah, you feel, you feel anxious about it. You don’t know why. So that’s how you’re stuck. And the thing is that if you don’t clarify what you want in this meeting, you’re way less likely to get it.
So let’s say that this meeting is about, is deciding who’s going to get what. You know, there’s, there’s work to be done and you are afraid you’re going to get the crappy one.
You’re afraid of that, because that has happened in the past. And in this case, your intuition is saying: Why don’t you decide which one you would like to get? Why don’t you clarify where you want to go in this meeting?
So before you felt stuck and you felt anxious because you were afraid you were gonna get the crampy one.
After intuition, you’re like: Oh, I want this one. And when it comes up, I’m going to be ready to say: can I get this task?
Do you see the difference here? You were stuck before, and now you have the confidence to say, I want this task because you know where you’re going. You know where you’re going and now the car can take you there.
So in that meeting that’s coming up, you had an intuitive insight: you want that task.
When this comes up and they say: okay, who wants to do this? Your hand is going to be the first one up and you’re going to go for it. That’s it.
You see how small that is, but this is how you’re going to build trust without being scared.
There’s no point in taking leaps of faith that will break your trust because if you fall fat on your face, you will never trust your intuition again.
And that’s what I call an intuitive injury. It’s very damaging.
Just take a small, very small decision that you’re comfortable with.
Intuition is most beneficial when we feel stuck. Stuck in a way that our logical mind says: I don’t know how to help you.
This is when intuition shines. This is when intuition can give you the clarity you need to understand why you’re upset,
it can give you opportunities that you didn’t know were there, that are not visible to your logical mind because they’re stored in your subconscious. They’re only visible if you go rummaging in there.
And they can give you a shortcut. to get there 50 percent faster, which has been shown by science, which is really cool.
And so those are the things that intuition can do for you when you feel stuck.
All right, that’s all I’m getting for you today. I hope this was helpful and I’ll talk to you soon.
