[104] The 3 Myths That Can Ruin Your Intuition: Fast, Magic and Scary
Intuition Podcast: Listen here.
Myth 1: Intuition is Always Fast
The first myth is that it’s fast, that you can use your intuition quickly in any situation, and the solution should be obvious, and boom, you are a millionaire.
That is a very damaging myth, and I think it’s based mostly on movies, you know, where people are psychics or they have superpowers. That’s not how intuition works. Intuition is a skill like any other. The only difference is that it’s based on subconscious information. Intuition is information.
Now, when you have more information, you can make a better decision. That’s what it comes down to. You’re edging your bet every time you make an intuitive decision. You take in some information brought to you by your intuition instead of your conscious, logical mind, and you’re stacking the odds in your favor. That’s how intuition works.
When you think that it should be fast, that you should ask a question to intuition, get an answer, and your problem is fixed tomorrow, you’re demanding too much from this process. What happens is, because that won’t happen, you’re disappointed. Then you set it aside and don’t ask your intuition anymore because it was disappointing to you. This first myth is very damaging when you have an assumption that intuition should work fast.
Myth 2: Intuition as Magic
The second myth is that intuition is like magic. This one is tied to a specific expectation, which is that intuition can predict the future. Which is not true. Intuition is just information that is subconscious. Why am I usually more right than most people when I’m guessing? Because I am, I have an inordinate amount, statistically speaking, of right guesses.
The reason is this: if you see a car driving 60 miles per hour and there’s a stoplight, it turns yellow and red, and that person does not hit the brakes, you can be pretty sure they’re going to go through the intersection and are likely to have an accident.
In the same way, when I look at your energy and see you’re making the same decision repeatedly, which isn’t in the direction of what you want, I’m likely going to be right if I guess that you’re going to stay stuck. It’s just information based on probability, but it’s not predicting the future. It’s not like magic.
I’ve seen women come to me for intuitive insight, and when it was not a winning lottery number or a successful business idea, they were disappointed. It fell short of their expectation. Then they don’t use the information because it’s not a sure thing. Here’s the thing: Let’s say you go to a psychic, and I’m not psychic by the way. You ask them, “When will I meet my soulmate?” They say: on April 27th, you will meet your soulmate. Two things can happen here, and neither are good.
The first is that on April 27th, you won’t meet your soulmate, and you will be very disappointed. Or on that date, you’ll meet someone and assume it’s your soulmate, which may or may not be true. Then maybe you’ll stay with that person for a super long time because you think it’s a fulfillment of that prediction. Now you have to go back for more predictions. It’s a great marketing strategy, but it doesn’t help you grow in your life. It doesn’t help you be happier. It doesn’t make you feel empowered.
I don’t want that for you. Certain events are likely to happen. Like I said, if I look at the energy of something, I will be more likely right in my guesses than most people. But I could still be wrong. I’m not predicting a future that is fixed. I’m more looking at a board of probabilities for every line item on there. Oh, look at that, that’s a 30% probability because you’re mostly on the right direction.
That’s just information. But when you expect it to behave like magic, you can be disappointed in your intuition. “You can’t predict when I’m gonna meet my soulmate? Oh, then I don’t wanna hear anything else.” I wanted to answer that question “when,” and this is another question that your intuition can’t answer.
That makes me sad because there’s so much it can answer, that you can improve your life, your success rate, and your relationships so much with intuition. It makes me sad when I see this happen, that disappointment.
Myth 3: Intuition is Scary
The third myth is that intuition is scary. Because of that, we don’t want to dip our toe into this pond. We’re afraid there’s a big, scary monster at the bottom of the pond. We’re afraid that intuition will ask us to make really scary decisions and to put all of our money on, I don’t know, black seven at the roulette in a casino. Intuition will never do that ever, ever, ever, ever. I’ll never do that.
If you hear that, you’re not listening to your intuition; you’re probably listening to something else. Intuition is not scary for a couple of reasons. The first one is that it’s just information. If it’s just information, then you get to decide. You get the final say whether or not you’re going to use that information to your benefit. What if it doesn’t feel good? Then just don’t use the information and that’s it. You’re done. You’re not forced ever to follow an intuitive insight if it doesn’t resonate with you.
This is the important part. Intuition, when it pulls up subconscious information to your consciousness to help you make a better decision, it will resonate with you because you will recognize it. That information is already there. You just don’t have access to it consciously before intuition pulls it up.
That’s what happens in my intuitive reading. I’m going to be honest with you, I’m totally addicted to that moment in an intuitive reading with a new client where they go: “Oh my God, how do you know that?” Because I just said something that totally resonated with them. Even though I had no information about the problem, I was able to pull up information from their energy. It’s there, but they didn’t have a conscious accent to it. When I say it, it resonates with them because it’s already in them.
I’m not making stuff up. I’m not creating new information that they were missing. I’m just putting the flashlight on it, saying: here it is. Here’s a root cause. Let me pull it up to consciousness, and now go forth and use that information to make a better decision about your life and be more successful. When we think about our intuition as being scary, it prevents us from using it every day.
The only reason my life looks magical and lucky in so many aspects is because I use my intuition daily, multiple times a day, about so many topics. There’s no topics that are off-limit for me. I ask questions to my intuition about money, about my health, about things that normally you might be like, oh, I don’t know. This is a tricky topic, you know?
Yes, it’s harder. And yes, I’ve spent 20 years training for this, but the outcome, though, the outcome of a life that resonates with you. You have a job that resonates with you. You have finances that make sense to you, that make you happy and bring you joy. You have a physical body that resonates with you, where you go, yes, I love this body. I love what I’ve done with the place from all those intuitive decisions. If you think about intuition as information that helps you make a better decision, then it’s less scary.
The reason I wanted to mention that is I’ve seen many times women who get fantastic intuitive insight, even I’m impressed that like: wow, this is really good stuff. They don’t make a decision based on it because they’re scared. They’re scared. A
nd that’s sad because if they would just make a small decision, something that is not scary at all, something that they feel completely comfortable trying out, they would then go through a full intuitive process where you ask a question, you get an intuitive insight, you make a decision based on that intuitive insight, and then you look for the proof that it is working. And that’s your confirmation. And that’s when your logical mind will say: “Oh my gosh, that intuition stuff is awesome. Let’s do that more.” And then you win.
There’s no situation in your life that cannot be improved, give you more joy and fulfillment with intuition.
All right, that’s all I have for you today. I’ll talk to you soon.
