[73] Intuitive Message: Are you bumping against a wall?
Unlocking Your Intuition
Hi, my name is Elise Lebeau, I’m the Left Brain Intuitive, and today I’m wondering if this intuitive message is for you.
Did you know that you can ask for your own intuitive reading? If you’re a listener of this podcast, just go to LeftBrainIntuitive.com/ask. It’s anonymous—you don’t need to tell me anything about yourself, just where you feel stuck, and I will let you know if I pick your situation for an episode here.
Feeling Stuck?
Today, this message is for a woman who feels stuck. It’s a very specific kind of stuck because every time you feel like you’re starting to move forward and figure something out, something happens, and you bump against a wall. You’re like a little fly, you know, trying to get out and bumping against the window over and over again. In your case, this has been going on for a while, where you’re always bumping against something.
You think, “Oh yeah, I have a solution, I know where this is going,” and then, boop, you run into that window.
It’s confusing because you can’t possibly be stuck in all directions. There has to be a way out, which is why that fly keeps trying to get to that blue sky.
Shifting Expectations: Embracing New Beginnings with Intuition
Let’s see if we can get you some clarity about that.
When you start your day and go into your life, you carry with you expectations about what should happen. I wonder if you tend to be a high-performing woman. Maybe you were in charge of running a house, managing kids and logistics like soccer, or you had a business or career where you had to be well-organized. All these experiences led you to expect that you would be high-performing right now in this area where you’re stuck.
I don’t see specifically where you’re stuck. I don’t think it’s in everything, but I do feel that it’s a really important part of your life. I wonder if it’s related to your life purpose, or perhaps you’re trying to create something new—maybe a new business or a career change. Something important.
It’s a big transition, and you keep bumping into that window, and it’s because of these expectations that you project onto today. The thing is, though, that you’re entering something new, something fresh. You’ve not been here before. So here you are, unfolding the map that you used previously in a completely different place, and you start walking, nose on the map, right?
Following the map, and then boom! You run into a tree.
And you’re like, “Why did that happen? Look at the map! I should have a trail here. I should be able to solve this problem. I should be able to be productive.”
Following Your Intuitive Path
All of these thoughts are based on following an old map, an old strategy—something that is not going to work here.
It’s not going to work here. But you have been very determined to keep going, and you want to figure this out, which I totally support. But you’re not going to be able to figure it out using the same tools that worked for you in the past because you’ve not been here before. This is really important.
This is a different land. This is a different national park. And the map that you have doesn’t correspond to this place. The first thing that would be really helpful is if that map went away and you stopped looking at it.
Intuitive Breakthrough With Your Intuition
So what does that mean? Whenever you feel disappointed, like you’ve had a setback, or you bump into the window, the wall, or the tree, you bump into something.
In that moment, the reason why this feels bad is because you were looking at the map. You had an expectation that something should have been different than it was. And I’m going to be honest with you—when I look at your energy, I don’t see anything wrong. This is where you and I differ right now.
When I look at your energy, I don’t see the details of what you’re doing, but I can see the general energy. What is this pattern here? And this is not a pattern of being stuck. This is not a pattern of having setbacks. You’re bumping into stuff for sure, but what’s making you think, “Oh, this is a problem,” is just the old map that you have.
Because when you do bump, you don’t think, “Oh, this is a problem.” Instead, you think, “Oh, I wonder what I was just thinking that made me look at this and assume it was a problem.” Assume that this is wrong. That today I did not get as much done as I wanted, that I was not productive and overcoming this obstacle. That’s not true.
It’s not true. It’s only because the map that you have and the trail that’s in front of you don’t line up. You’re following the map, not the trail, and that’s why this is painful. And it is painful because you’re very determined. There’s no problem with you being determined, but you need to change your strategy. Here’s an opening for you.
Change Your Intuitive Strategy
Here’s one step that you can take to decide that will put you on the trail that’s actually there, as opposed to the trail that you think you should be following. This is new. You’ve not been here before. You don’t have a map.
Not only that, but nobody around you has a map either. The things they’ve been telling you, the suggestions, the advice—you’ve been talking to people—none of that is helpful right now.
There’s a lot of good information there, but right now it’s not helpful because you have to find your trail first, and then you’ll know what question to ask yourself and others.
This is the most important part. If you’re still lost in the woods, other people are just going to get you more lost. They don’t know where you are.
So they’re giving you instructions, but they don’t know where you are.
In order to get on the actual trail that’s in front of you, the first thing is that you need to start reminding yourself every day that you’ve not been here before. This is new.
Nothing you’ve done in the past is going to help you in this transition.
When you bump into something, it’s not an obstacle that you need to jump over. This is not a problem. This is like a helpful sign that says, “Turn left.” But you’re bumping into it, thinking, “I have to take down this sign!”
Using Your Intuition: Small Pivots for Big Changes
So what if, when you feel the bump, right? And I know you feel this frequently—something didn’t work out the way you thought—and you feel stuck.
What if you were to ask yourself:
“Where is this pointing me?”
It’s a pivot. It’s a very small pivot because the trail is right there. I promise you, the trail is right there, and you will know that you’re now pointing in the right direction with a very small pivot because you will feel relief.
So, for example, you did something today and it didn’t work.
Now, you think, “Okay, where is this trying to point me? Where is this trying to point me?”
“Okay, I don’t think I should do that again. I don’t think I should try again.”
Now, this goes against the map, and I realize that because what you’ve learned is that if you’re super persistent and you keep trying, eventually it will work.
And I can guarantee you that it will not.
You will get exhausted and burned out before this strategy works here because you’ve not been here before.
And in that moment, you stop looking at the old map—what you think you should do, what people told you you should do, what has worked in the past—and you start to actually look at where you are and what feels better than bumping into that sign.
I know that as soon as you ask this question, you’re going to get the answer right away.
I’m not even worried about that. You’re very intuitive. But you need to ask the question instead of being a little bit stubborn and keep bumping into the same sign, thinking that the sign is the problem. It’s not the problem. It’s really trying to help you.
All right, that’s all I’m getting for you today.
I hope this was helpful. I’ll talk to you soon!
